The Second Amendment. The egg sucking liberal dogs we have in the mainstream media is forever leaving out the middle section and quote it out of context. Read it for yourself, is it that hard to understand what was meant by our founding fathers?
Article II.
(the people have a right to) A
well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Here's what the man you wrote that said it meant:
No free man shall ever be de-barred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain their right to keep and bear arms is as a last resort to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
Thomas Jefferson
Notice it says SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.
It does not say shall not be taken away, shall not be altered, shall not
be modified!!It says SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED. INFRINGED
means you don't screw with the right in ANY MANNER!

I got from a Pissed Off Aussie!about whats happening in Austrailia..Right
NOW! There is graphic and colorful language in this, so be warned!
"[W]hen the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great Britain, the British Parliament was advised by an artful man, who was governor of Pennsylvania, to disarm the people; that it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them; but that they should not do it openly, but weaken them, and let them sink gradually.". . . I ask, who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers." -- Virginia's U.S. Constitution ratification convention, 1788
Samuel Adams, of Massachusetts:"The said Constitution [shall] be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press, or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms." --
Massachusetts' U.S. Constitution ratification convention, 1788
James Madison, of Virginia:The Constitution preserves "the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation. . . (where) the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms." --
The Federalist, No. 46
Tench Coxe, of Pennsylvania:"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American . . . . The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people." --
The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788
Thomas Paine, of Pennsylvania:[A]rms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. . . Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them." --
Thoughts On Defensive War, 1775
Notice nowhere in any of that does it say that the purpose of the population having guns is for sporting purposes. The reason is Not for hunting, Not for target shooting, Not for collecting. It says the reason is to protect ourselves from tyranny in government. It's time we get the people who are taking our constitution apart and get them out of office. We must teach the constitution in school, so our kids have some respect for it.
